Fine Arts programmes abroad may appear studio-heavy, but universities still require strong English for written critiques, artist statements, dissertation modules, and group critiques conducted in English. IELTS scores are used both by the university admissions office and by the visa-issuing authority, so you may need to satisfy two separate thresholds. In countries like Japan and South Korea, the national student-visa process may rely more on institutional acceptance than on a standalone IELTS threshold, but individual universities often set their own English proficiency conditions — confirm with both the institution and the relevant consulate.
